Scholarly and Practitioner Areas of Interest
My primary areas of interest in terms of research and scholarship as it relates to higher education are very interdisciplinary. I am interested in the relationship between academic libraries and student success/student affairs units on college campuses. There are a few questions that I would like to learn more about both through my research and through my day-to-day work.
- How have academic libraries and student success units historically worked together?
- Are there examples of collaborations that have worked particularly well or poorly?
- What could be done to foster more collaboration and communication amongst professionals working in these areas of higher education?
- What do students have to gain from these collaborations?
I am also very interested in the ideas of compassion fatigue and burnout among professionals working in college environments. We spend a great deal of time thinking about wellness and mental health for our students, but who is taking care of us? Who is making sure that the caregivers are cared for?
